Thank you for your patience whilst IT have been resolving the problems. The majority of our systems are now back online and IT are working hard to resolve the final few.
Nearly all problems have been resolved, although customers may still get a "delivery failure" reply if emailing a Council department.
You can still carry out most transactions on our website. If you need to contact us by phone and your call is urgent we will try to help you. If your call is not urgent please contact us in the latter half of next week as we anticipate the first half of the week to be extremely busy.
We apologise for any inconvenience while we work to resolve this problem.
Currently our bin calendar search does not display collection dates for shared bins within flats. If you need to check when your shared bins are emptied please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 03450 450063.
Two collection arrangements are available depending on the type of waste:
Some types of healthcare-related waste are suitable for disposal in your black bin. This waste can have an offensive odour or appearance but is not infectious. We recommend this waste is bagged and tied to reduce the chance of leakages.
If your current black bin capacity is insufficient for your Hygiene Waste we may be able to provide an additional bin to cater to your needs. Please contact us on 03450 450 063 to discuss this further.
This is infectious waste which is sent to be incinerated in order to prevent spread of infection. Examples include:
This is collected separately from your normal waste in specially provided sharps boxes or clinical waste sacks. Collections are currently provided free of charge and the frequency of collections will be discussed at application stage.
If you require a clinical waste collection your GP or Health Care provider must complete and return an application form so we can assess the most appropriate way of handling your waste.
At present, empty sharps boxes can be collected from your GP surgery. Depending on the circumstances Clinical Waste sacks maybe provided by your health care provider.
If this is not the case, collection sacks will be provided by us. When you join the service sacks will be delivered to you. Clinical waste sacks will be replaced bag for bag after each collection. They will be posted through your letterbox or left in a nearby visible location at your address. Alternatively if you need a new roll of sacks please contact us.
We will only collect Sharps boxes when they are full. Collection of Sharps boxes is done on a request basis. Please don’t place half full boxes out for collection.
Clinical waste sacks and sharps boxes are collected from outside the front door at a frequency most suitable to your individual needs, normally weekly.
Sacks and boxes should be put for out for collection the evening before your scheduled collection day. Collection may take place from midnight.
All the clinical waste must be contained in the sacks provided and they must be tied at the top. Please do not place clinical waste sacks in your normal refuse bin as this will not be collected.
Please note: We do not currently provide a commercial clinical waste service
For further advice or information, to request a clinical waste form by post or to request a temporary clinical waste collection please contact our refuse team on: 01954 713484.
